“Work is the key to restoring dignity to those who have lost it.” InGalera, opened in 2015 within the Bollate Correctional Facility in Milan, is Italy’s first restaurant established inside a prison. Working alongside a professional chef and maître d’, inmates are employed in both the kitchen and dining room, gaining valuable skills and hands-on experience that can support their reintegration into society after serving their sentences. Participants will be welcomed by Silvia Polleri, founder of InGalera, and the restaurant staff, made up of inmates who work there every day. Together, they will share the story of an initiative that has helped reduce reoffending rates well below the national average while fostering dialogue between the prison system and wider society through daily interactions with guests. A project built around a simple yet powerful principle: work not as a form of assistance, but as a means of fostering responsibility, restoring dignity, and creating new opportunities. The dinner will also provide a networking opportunity for members of the Leader del Futuro community: an informal setting to build and strengthen relationships while reflecting on the value of work, responsibility, and second chances.
